BASLE & GENEVA 2008

Every year, the leading luxury brands, watch houses and designers exhibit their latest creations in BASLE and GENEVA. It is the largest and most prestigious event in the watch and jewellery industry and sets future fashion trends.

Michael Laing and Susan Thomson, our jewellery buyer, selected the latest designs from Chopard, Bulgari and Mikimoto, among many other great designers. Anthony Burtenshaw then joined Michael to select the winning new models from Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Breitling, Omega, IWC and TAG Heuer to ensure we have the finest range of watches.

Michael says “rose gold is emerging as a more popular metal in jewellery and watches, and large watch dials are still the most fashionable. In spite of a gloomy economy, the trade fair was very buoyant with many brands reporting record sales”.

Southampton FC and Wessex Heartbeat Golf Day

In 2007, Parkhouse was delighted to sponsor the beautifully-engraved trophies for the annual Southampton FC and Wessex Heartbeat golf day and the Gala Ball which took place the following evening.

Many top football names such as Matt Le Tissier and Jimmy Case joined other guest players at the Marriott Meon Valley Golf Club for a day of competitive golf.

The black tie dinner and ball gave us the opportunity to entertain some of our clients, but much more importantly we were pleased to play our part in the fundraising activities which received considerable coverage in the local media.

More than £40,000 was raised for Wessex Heartbeat at these two combined events. We donate auction prizes to Wessex Heartbeat for their various events throughout the year, and we at Parkhouse are proud and delighted to be associated with the vital work of this excellent local charity.

RED ARROWS BREITLING EVENT

There can be little doubt about the highest-flying visitors to our store! The nine-strong team of the world-famous Red Arrows, officially known as the RAF Aerobatic Team, came along to meet our clients in the newly-created Breitling in-store boutique.

The famous Swiss watchmakers founded in 1884 are the patrons of the Red Arrows and are renowned for their association with the aviation industry. For the occasion, the entire upper frontage of our store was wrapped in a stunning image of pilots in action, which certainly attracted a lot of local attention. Over glasses of champagne and canapés, the Red Arrows mingled with our customers, having their pictures taken and chatting about the fascinating intricacies of their dramatic precision aerobatics.
During the proceedings, our clients were able to learn more about Breitling’s specialist timepieces and their very important relationship with both the Red Arrows and the RAF. It was altogether an unforgettable evening for everyone who attended.

Events such as these enable us to give our clients a glimpse into the workings of Parkhouse, and show what goes on behind the scenes in order to bring the people of Southampton the excellence of products and service which they have come to expect from us.

New Forest and Hampshire County Show

NEW FOREST AND HAMPSHIRE COUNTY SHOW

The New Forest and Hampshire County Show is a highlight of the county's
social calendar and Parkhouse enjoys playing its part in this important
festival. Over three days in July, tens of thousands of people flock to this
amazing event which mixes equestrian and agricultural competitions and
demonstrations with a showcase of all that is best of country life in
Hampshire.

Parkhouse supported the 2007 event by sponsoring several
equestrian classes, and created a 'mini showroom' inside the members'
enclosure where we entertained many of our existing clients as well as
meeting new ones. Each day we added to the fun of the show by presenting theprize to the 'Best Dressed' show member.

Our support for the show, which benefits the historic New Forest
Agricultural Society, is just one element of Parkhouse's commitment to the
community of Southampton and the surrounding area. We feel very strongly
that, for more than 200 years, Parkhouse has been a welcome presence in
Southampton and we need to give something back to the city and surrounding area.

WESSEX HEARTBEAT CHARITY

One of our most important contributions is to the Wessex Heartbeat Charity, which supports the work of the Cardiac Centre at Southampton General Hospital. Since it began, Wessex Heartbeat has supported the Centre with donations of equipment and money to fund important research projects. Wessex Heartbeat has also been key to the redevelopment of the children’s cardiac ward at the hospital. The Hampshire magazines frequently cover the various charity events we support, where we always strive to come up with new, innovative ideas to add more fun to the difficult job of charity fund raising.
